After graduation from The Citadel in 1965, Martin was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Artillery and served tours of duty with the Second Infantry Division, South Korea, training cadres at Fort Knox, KY and Fort Sill, OK. In 1972, Martin bought Craigville Realty and settled on Cape Cod to raise his family. Martin is a former Director of the Cape Cod Conservatory of Arts and Music, past president and director of the Cape Cod Ballroom Dancers, former director of the Red Lily Pond Reclamation Committee and volunteer participant on numerous housing advisory committees and boards these last 40 years. He became a member of The Wianno Club in 1976 "...when they weren't as particular about whom they allowed to become a member."
He has been a dedicated afficianado of ballroom dancing, tennis, golf and duplicate bridge, all of which he performs at about a C- level. Well, if that.
When asked why the office devotes so much effort to summer vacation rentals, he replies:
"These owners all bought these houses from us because they knew they could depend on us to generate income and take care of their investments--I want to make sure we deliver. I also picture myself in the circumstances of our vacationing tenants and try to treat them the way I would want to be treated when I'm on holiday."
"It's worked for FORTY years."
